Jim Blackwood, Jr. grew up in the Southern California desert and lived on both sides of the country before settling in Portland, Oregon. He was a successful information systems manager and senior policy director for a Portland city commissioner. Jim has a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies focused on political science and religion. He is a student of Zen Buddhism and baseball, which he feels are pretty much the same thing. When not at his keyboard, he can be found in his garden, at local rock clubs or in his third-row seat watching his Portland Pickles baseball team.

Jim and his wife, Sally, live high atop Mt. Tabor with their dogs Mozy and Zoom.
