Life Intervenes

Updated: Jan 3

In the book I write about my friend and former boss, Commissioner Nick Fish. From being on the core team in a winning city council campaign to my almost 8 years with him in City Hall we nurtured a sometimes complex relationship. His generosity meant I got to live out one of my lifelong dreams. With the new year, we got word that my friend has to resign his much loved job to continue his fight with cancer. I know intimately what a hard decision this must have been for him. He is defined by his love of public service.

I wrote about Nick in my first project as part of my narrative about my live with mental illness. The nature of a memoir made it impossible to dig more deeply. I resolve that in my new project.

[ Update: 3 hours after I wrote this post I learned that Nick passed away. May his memory be a blessing.]
